This theme challenges participants to integrate one or up to three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
into their designs using TMT Steel rebars.

The SDGs are a UN framework aiming to tackle global challenges by 2030, including ending poverty,
promoting sustainable consumption and production, combating climate change, etc.

Eligibility & Team Formation

All graduate and postgraduate student in civil engineering and architecture are welcome to participate .
Teams must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 members, ideally with a mix of architecture and civil engineering students ( No compulsion).

  • Create a video (2-3 min) explaining your sculpture or structure, focusing on its steel-based design.

  • Highlight how you’ve utilized TMT bars for bendability, twistability, weldability, and machinability to enhance the design.

  • Explain your strategy for load distribution to optimize construction, minimizing steel use while maintaining structural integrity.

Round 3: finale

  • Physical Model Preparation: Create a physical model, structure, or sculpture using TMT Bars based on your submitted design.
  • Deadline: Models/sculptures must be prepared by 2nd September.
  • Pick-up & Packaging: Pickup of materials and submission of packed models should be done at the assigned location. Use the provided wooden boxes to pack and submit your models by 5th September.
  • Finale Event:
  • Date: 15th September in Jalna, Maharashtra.
  • Format: Live exhibition where participants showcase their projects.
  • Presentation: Each participant will present for 5 minutes, followed by a 1-minute Q&A session.
  • Poster Preparation: Finalists are required to prepare a poster summarizing their project for display during the exhibition.

Submission Guidelines

Model Size

  • Dimensions: Maximum 3 ft (width) by 3 ft (length) by 3
    ft (height).
  • Ensure strict adherence to these dimensions for fair
    judging.

Materials

  • Participants must use a combination of materials:
    • Minimum 80% Thermo-Mechanically Treated (TMT)
      bars, steel (any size).
    • 20% from any other material of their choice.
  • TMT rebars and binding wires provided by Kalika
    Steel.

Presentation of Steel Properties

  • Showcase steel properties like ductility, bendability,
    strength, and resilience.
  • Incorporate features such as curved or twisted
    elements to highlight steel’s flexibility and versatility

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • Each structure must clearly represent 1 to 3 of the
    17 SDGs
  • Integrate elements or symbols creatively to raise
    awareness and promote action towards global
    sustainability targets set by the United Nations.

Overall Guidelines

Submit all entries via the official competition portal.

Format: Abstracts, reports, and presentations in PDF.

Videos: Upload to a specified platform (e.g., YouTube) and share a private link for judging.

Ensure accessibility: Submissions must have open access; password-protected filesor videos will be disqualified.

Appendices: Include drawings and designs as appendices or separate files if needed.

Terms and Conditions

  • Participants must adhere to all competition rules and guidelines.
  • Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Organizers reserve the right to modify competition structure and guidelines, with prompt communication of changes.
  • Participants grant organizers rights to use submissions for promotional and educational purposes.
  • Transportation of models/structures provided by Kalika Steels; packaging materials (wooden boxes) also provided by Kalika Steels.
  • Kalika Steels will supply TMT bars (steel) required for model/sculpture making.
  • Details regarding collection and submission of materials (TMT bars) will be provided at an assigned location, updated on the portal after the 2nd Round results.
